I have been teaching science at Batavia High School since 1992 and I started our fishing club in 2006-07. I was on the Ad Hoc Committee that created the rules for the current IHSA Bass Fishing State Tournament. I have hosted many tournaments at Lake Shabbona and a yearly, well attended Casting Clinic. Several of my former high school fishermen have competed at the college level. My teams have competed in many IBN Qualifiers as well as Bassmaster Opens. I am the founder of highschoolfishingcentral.com which is an Informational resource for all fishermen including youth, parents and coaches.
My name is Humberto Gonzalez. I'm the former Head Coach at Naperville North High School. I coached the team for 7 seasons. I have fished my whole life with friends and family, my fishing started like everyone else fishing for panfish then upgraded to catfish then eventually to Bass. Once the opportunity opened at my school to become the coach I just had to go for it. When I first took over our kids have gone from competing in 2 events to over 20 per year. I will now put all my focus in IBFCA, My end goal is to increase participation in youth anglers each year and try to open the doors for them to continue after high school.

I am a retired guidance counselor, coach, and founder of the Minooka Anglers Club at Minooka Community High School. The club is structured using my unique volunteer boat-captain network. Volunteers make it possible for MAC fishermen to compete in, and host, the MAC Series Tournament and IHSA Sectional tournaments. They also compete in the IHSA State Tournament, FLW State and World Championship, Bassmaster High School Opens, IBN Qualifiers, IBN State Tournament, and the Bassmaster High School National Tournament. The team has been awarded many honors including the 2014 Plano-Frabill Illinois High School “Fish Here” Team of the Year, and they were 2019 IHSA Unified Team State Champions. The club also performs numerous ongoing community service projects. I currently live in New Auburn, Wisconsin, where I fish with my family.
